COVEN SYSTEM.
( FULL NAVIGATION )
» 001. ) — EXPLAIN.
There are three covens that a character can be sorted into — Anathema, Miasma, and Bane. Members of any one coven will feel a connection to others of the same, and a very slight aversion to the coven that holds theirs' weakness. Anathema is weak to Miasma, Miasma is weak to Bane, and Bane is weak to Anathema. Think Pokemon types.
The weakness means that characters of one coven will generally feel unsettled and fear the other party. Events will have characters playing with those in their own covens, as well as the others, even if they're weak to that one. Who knows how the Old Gods change will things?
Sorting is self-assigned in the application, but we ask players to look at the Taken page to keep an eye on how many members are in which coven, and to keep things relatively even.
» 002. ) — THE COVENS.
Anathema: these characters sacrifice their strength for sanity. If characters have abilities, one of them will be dampened or nerfed entirely, and in return, they'll have a natural "plus" to their sanity; it will also be a bit harder for their sanity to deplete. If characters do not have abilities, then one of their five senses will be dampened in the name of sanity.
Miasma: these characters sacrifice sanity for strength. If characters have abilities, they'll find that they're stronger, able to be used for longer, etc. If characters do not have abilities, then they'll gain a boost in physical strength and heightened endurance.
Bane: these characters fluctuate between (+/-) for both their strength and sanity. Bane members are typically in sync with one another, so if one finds their sanity ebbing and strength flowing, then the others will be the same or similar. The upside to this is a natural resistance to eldritch enemies; no more will fear make their legs freeze when they face off against something from the Otherworld.
